What is vaginal laser treatment?
Vaginal laser treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to improve the appearance and function of the vagina. It can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including:
Vaginal dryness
Vaginal constriction
Vaginal atrophy
Recurrent vaginal infections
Stress urinary incontinence
Mild overactive bladder
The laser energy is used to stimulate the production of vaginal epithelial cells and replacement of poor functioning parabasal cells. This new cellular layer will increase compliance, increase lubrication, decrease pH, increase pleasurable sensitivity with sex, and decrease discomfort with sex.
Vaginal laser treatment is typically performed in a doctor's office and takes about 5 minutes. This procedure is done without general anesthesia or IV sedation, and most patients typically return to their normal activities later that day.
Patients will require anywhere from 3 to 5 treatments spaced six weeks apart. The benefits of vaginal laser treatment can be noticed after the first treatment but will be more noticeable after the second treatment.
It is important to note that the procedure is not a cure for all vaginal conditions. If you are considering vaginal laser treatment, talk to our doctor at Mojo Vitality about the risks and benefits of the procedure.
